The Magnetic Resonance Imaging Laboratory (MRILab) works on developing dedicated and low-cost magnetic resonance equipment for various applications (medical, industrials…). Some of the ongoing research in the MRILab includes:

  • Design new technologies magnet design.
  • Design of new high efficiency strength gradient coils.
  • Development of ultra fast high frequency pulse sequences.

In situ imaging of living tissues with cellular spatial resolution (Histo-MRI).
Funded by European Commission under the FETOPEN (H2020) program 2016

The main objective of HISTO-MRI project is to develop the technologies that will enable the non-invasive visualization of individual human cells in vivo and in real time, based on a radical
new Magnetic Resonance Imaging concept: Strong Pre-Polarized magnet field and Ultra-High Frequency Pulsed gradient system.

Development and homologation of compact magnetic resonance equipment for the prostate cancer detection (PSI).

* Funded by Ministry of Economy, Industry and Competitiveness, under the “Retos-colaboración” program 2016.

The main objective of PSI (Prostate Specific Imager) project is to develop a Prostate Specific Imaging System for the reliable diagnosis, targeted focal treatment and follow-up in Prostate Cancer (PCa) patients, which could be used by urologists at their offices. The system will be based on an extremely high-resolution compact dedicated MRI that will enable the visualization of PCa with high sensitivity.
